PROJECT INFORMATION: The Mount Vernon School District intends to solicit qualifications and proposals to utilize the Design-Build delivery method for a new Shop Building project. The District is planning to advertise and release an RFQ/RFP to solicit for Design-Build (D/B) services for the project.

The specific D/B delivery method is anticipated to be the Progressive Design-Build (PD/B) delivery model. The Shop Building is planned to be constructed in the north parking lot of the existing high school site and will house shop and classroom spaces for the high school’s industrial arts programs.

The District’s desire is that the primary structural system for the building be based on a pre-engineered metal building package with building systems and internal and external build-out as required to satisfy the functional and programmatic needs of the facility. Design-Builder will be required to provide all supervisory, project management, programming, architectural, engineering, permitting, bidding and construction services required to program, design, permit and construct a complete, operational facility to meet the District’s program and budgetary needs.

Qualified firms, teams or joint ventures with previous PD/B experience or experience using a similar alternative construction delivery format and experience in the design and construction of this type of facility are encouraged to apply when the RFQ is released.

The estimated building area is 7,000 to 8,000 square feet.

The total budget for design and construction of this project is anticipated to be in the range of $2.2 million to $ 2.3 million.

Related work, in addition to the work described above, may include an alternate for a 2,500 square foot addition, extension of sanitary sewer line and other utilities to a location for future modular portables and utility connections to modular portables.

More detailed information on anticipated project scope, budget and schedule will be identified in the RFQ, when released. It is anticipated that the RFQ documents will be completed and the project will be advertised in late February 2019. The process for obtaining a copy of the RFQ will be identified in the RFQ advertisement.
